My Flower Story…..

It’s more than a little daunting to write a few paragraphs about myself. I just don’t feel like there’s all that much to say. Having said that, those of you who know me, know there is more than a little to say about me especially that I’m anything but quiet and boring but, to write about myself…..to put something about myself into words is just not so easy.

About me personally…I’m short and managed to gain 15-pounds during COVID. I have red hair from a bottle and wear signature bright green glasses that no longer help me see all that well. Some changes are coming…..I think orange framed specs are in my future.

My Floral Story started late in life and was preceded by various other careers and learning experiences.

The thing I like most about my flower story is helping clients build a floral framework for the things going on in their lives…..the milestones…..weddings, birthdays, graduations, engagements….as well as those small moments when they just need a floral boost…..some pretty petals for a Zoom meeting backdrop or something pretty to look at over morning coffee. Even those tiny moments can be transformed into celebrations of texture and color. Whether it’s a large-scale event or a quiet evening with a good book or your best bud, flowers set the mood, add color, fragrance and style.

I strive to create florals that are unique, textural, colorful and that combine floral “genres” in unexpected ways but that are appropriate to the event. I ask my clients a zillion questions because I want to get their event right and, to a larger degree, I want them to get it right.

My approach to floral design uses some basic design rules (about color, form, line and function) in combination with mechanical techniques and tools that allow me to create some lovely as well as how-did-she-do-that designs. I take the time to learn and master new techniques; explore new varieties of plants and how I can utilize them in designs; and, I keep pace with new trends and products in the floral industry. All of that stuff is important to me because…..

I’m constantly learning about flower stuff because I’m passionate about what I do. I love flowers. I love plants. I love that they come in colors, textures and shapes that are completely unique. And, I love telling you about them.

Flowers really are food for my soul! And that’s really my story!!
